Advent's Ministry to the Homeless
Homelessness is a large and growing problem in the Cleveland area. Ministry to those who have no homes has become a centerpiece of our mission. We help in three areas:
Clothing Ministry (440-498-2266)
Advent collect men's clothing for the Men's Shelter on Lakeside Ave, downtown. Clothing may be brought to Classroom "B" at Advent. If the doors are locked, bagged clothing may be left at the back door.
Our clothing coordinator is Joan Groening. Call her at 440-498-2266.
Men's Shelter 2100 Lakeside Ave, Downtown Cleveland http://www.lutheranmetro.org/index.php/Shelter-Program/
Join us as we serve meals to over 500 men at the Men's Shelter at 2100 Lakeside Avenue in downtown Cleveland. This outreach of Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry provides services for men in transition and crisis. The shelter serves up to 400 men per night with an additional 200 beds at the old Aviation High School.
Martin Luther-St. Paul http://www.mlsp.org/
Here we not only serve meals, but we cook them as well. Martin Luther/St. Paul is an ELCA congregation serving a severely depressed area on Cleveland's West Side. It is served by pastor/mission-developer Rev. Charles Eduardos. Many in attendance at the monthly meals are homeless -- some of them with families. Often our youth will serve these meals and conduct a brief worship service. However, all are welcome to serve. How can you help Advent's Ministry to the homeless?
