Youth Ministry at Advent

At Advent "Youth Ministry" means ministering along with youth.  Young people are involved in our congregation in the following ways:

  • The little ones sing in the "Cherub Choir"
  • Confirmation-age students serve as acolytes, crucifers, and torch bearers.
  • High School Youth serve as lay readers and lay assistants.
  • Grades 7 - 12 regularly serve meals to the homeless at the Lakeside Men¡¯s Shelter and at Martin Luther/St. Paul Lutheran Church on the West Side.
  • Grades 7 - 12 serve an annual Easter pancake breakfast and spaghetti dinners throughout the year.

At Advent "Youth Ministry" also means ministering to youth.  This happens in the following ways:

  • There are Sunday School classes for all ages.
  • First Communion instruction is given in the 5th grade.
  • Confirmation instruction is given in grades 7 - 8.
  • Our High School Sunday School class is very active.
  • Advents Youth Advisors work with Grades 7 - 12 in planning such events as Skiing, waterparks, bowling, Whirleyball, corn mazes, camping, tobogganing, sledding, movies, plays, youth events, and much more.
  • Our youth regularly attend state-wide and nation-wide church-sponsored youth events.
  • We always welcome children during worship.
  • Nursery service is available in all sessions.
