“God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. Service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life – flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.
This year we have two opportunities to serve on either Saturday or Sunday of God's Work Our Hands weekend. Saturday, September 7 & Sunday, September 8
On Saturday we'll have a crew that does some weeding and trimming at the home of a local Solon senior resident. She comes to us through conversation with the social workers at the Solon Senior Center. We'll meet at church at 9 am September 7 and carpool to her home to complete the work. Plan for about 2 hours of work that morning. On Sunday we'll take a group to each of the two Hattie Larlham Solon group homes. There will be opportunity to provide music and one-to-one interaction with the residents, or to plant flowers in the planters at either home.
