The next edition of
The Skinny on the Sacraments
is on Saturday, January 25 at 9 am
Communion, Lord's Supper, Eucharist...
Why so many names for one meal?
We are a church of Word and Sacrament. We spend a great deal of time talking about the Word of God and thinking about how to apply the Word in our daily lives of faith. The Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion, on the other hand, are most often only discussed and thought about when we are preparing to receive them for the first time or during a Cathechism or Confirmation class. In a church of Word AND Sacrament, we can do better.
The Skinny on the Sacraments provides an intergenerational conversation and experiential learning time for us to focus on a particular aspect of the sacraments and how we might deepen our understanding and connection with them. We will not be attempting to cover all that you need to know about the sacraments, but instead introducing small (skinny) slices of learning throughout the year so that they, like the Word, become part of our regular study of faith.
Skinny on the Sacraments is offered on Saturday mornings from 9 - 10 am every other month. If you're interested in beginning to receive Communion or want to talk about being baptized please indicate this to the pastor and plan to stay for an additional 30 minutes at the end of the class to address specific questions related to your situation.
